Stuck in a Meeting Map

  1. I imagine this village to be on the eastern shore of Lake Quag in Perrenland. I have named it Piketon and have placed it 60 miles south of Traft. It is protected by a wooden palisade. Above the village is a ruined keep, the stones of which have been used to build more sturdy residences for the villagers. Sometimes fell creatures spy on the village from the hilltop and once every few seasons giants might throw stones for sport.

  2. How long did this take you to draw and what tools/methods/materials did you use?

    1. I only use high tech methods. ;)

Basically, I grabbed one of those super fine Sharpies off the desk of the classroom I was in, nabbed a piece of printer paper and scribbled for about 20 minutes while everyone was arguing about something. Oh, I also ate some tootsie rolls that were left out. Mmmm....foraging.

I then scanned the map when I got home, but I don't know how to use GIMP, so whatever the scanner kicked out, I resized and uploaded.

One of these days I would love how to map properly, but I feel that this old dog has few new tricks up his sleeve.

  3. I could scribble something like that if I could draw a straight line. Man, it would be handy to be able to draw up a nice map on the spur of the moment. I will just have to settle for stealing yours.

  6. I think meetings are becoming my most productive time of the week, which of course speaks to the value of said meetings. ;)

  7. Simple map, but it still gives a lot of detail. Near the water I would assume it's a fishing village, with subsistence farming of course, and maybe a little hunting thrown in.

Sometimes I try to get TOO DETAILED with my maps. I think I have mild OCD or something. I want them to be perfect, and I'm still workign to get out of that mindset.

One of my first gaming groups had a DM that had SUPER DETAILED maps. He would get mad if someone chopped down a tree, or move a large stone. He would have to update the map. I'm serious...
